Plans to develop a sequel to Deadpool were confirmed in February 2016.[2] The production team of Deadpool were set to return for the second film but Tim Miller left due to creative differences with Reynolds and was replaced by David Leitch.[3] The Initial filming began in 2017 at the Hatley Castle in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada,[4] and principal photography began in Vancouver, on 26 June.[5] Deadpool 2 premiered at the Leicester Square in London on 10 May 2018 and was released in the United States on 18 May 2018.[6] Review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes surveyed 399 reviews and judged 84% of them to be positive.[7] Metacritic calculated a weighted average score of 66 out of 100 based on 51 reviews, indicating "Generally favorable reviews".[8] The film made in a budget of $110 million, grossed $785 million worldwide and became highest-grossing R-rated film until Joker surpassed it in 2019, which grossed $1 billion worldwide.[9][10]
The film has received numerous awards and nominations, recognizing the performance of the cast, several technical areas such as stunts, sound, and action. Deadpool 2 was nominated for 15 Golden Trailer Awards where it won four awards including the Most Original TV Spot, the Best Comedy TV Spot, the Best Teaser, and the Most Original Trailer.[11][12] The film also has received numerous nominations including the Best Edited Feature Film – Comedy from American Cinema Editors, Critics' Choice Movie Awards, Grammy Award, Teen Choice Awards, People's Choice Awards, Hollywood Music in Media Awards, Dragon Awards, and Motion Picture Sound Editors Awards.
