The Chinese ambassador in Maseru is the official representative of the Government in Beijing to the Government of Lesotho.
- In 1966, Lesotho became independence.
- From October 31, 1966 to May 14, 1983 and from April 5, 1990 to December 24, 1993 the governments of Taipei (Republic of China) and Maseru maintained diplomatic relations.
- From April 30, 1983 to April 7, 1990 the governments in Beijing and Maseru maintained diplomatic relations.
- Since January 12, 1994 the governments in Beijing and Maseru maintain diplomatic relations.
