List of highest-grossing superhero films
The following page lists the highest-grossing superhero films of all time, the highest-grossing superheroes at the box office, and the biggest opening weekends for superhero films. The figures have not been adjusted for inflation.
Highest-grossing superhero films
The top five highest-grossing superhero films and eight out of the top ten highest-grossing superhero films have been produced by Marvel Studios, within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The four Avengers films (The Avengers, Age of Ultron, Infinity War, and Endgame) are the four highest-grossing superhero films of all time; Infinity War and Endgame are the only two superhero films to surpass a $2 billion worldwide gross, with Avengers: Endgame being the highest-grossing film of all time. Most of the films on this list are from either Marvel or DC Comics. Of the 23 MCU films, only two are not in the top 50—Captain America: The First Avenger and The Incredible Hulk—even those two grossed more than $250 million. Of the 9 DC Extended Universe (DCEU) films, only three are not in the top 50—Shazam!, Birds of Prey and Wonder Woman 1984—even those three grossed more than $150 million.

Godzilla is Japan's greatest and most popular screen monster: a 400-foot tall prehistorical reptile. He has become a legend in his time. In thirteen film appearances to date he has grossed over $130 million outside Japan; the Japanese domestic grosses swell that sum vastly. [...] The beast's most recent screen appearance — this time in a speaking role—was in Godzilla vs. Megalon (1973) in which he and a man-made robot defeat Megalon and its ally, Gigan.
