List of kingdoms and royal dynasties
This is a list of historical and contemporary kingdoms and royal dynasties; both sovereign and non-sovereign. They have been organised by contemporary and historical geographic regionality. Entries in this list are based on legitimate recorded monarchies and dynasties, either previously abolished, historically dissolved or still in place in the country they originated from. Individuals and self-proclaimed dynasties who stake claims to royal titles are not included.
Note: many countries have had multiple dynasties over the course of recorded history. This is not a comprehensively exhaustive list and may require further additions or historical verification.
