History
In 1977 Manarat Jeddah International School was founded by Prince Mohammad bin Faisal in order to serve the growing expat community in Jeddah, KSA. Since then, Manarat schools expanded to have several branches across the Kingdom.
In 2004, Maarif for Education and Training acquired the school and expanded it further, helping to unify the practices of all branches.[2]
Curriculum
Initially, it was decided that MJIS would teach the American Curriculum from KG to Grade 6 and then the British Curriculum from Grade 7 to 12.
In 2017, the school expanded to providing the American Curriculum in Grade 9, running alongside the already existing British Curriculum.
Students that follow the British track will have the opportunity to sit CIE IGCSE exams in Grade 10, AS Level in Grade 11 and A Level exams in Grade 12. American track students achieve the American diploma and sit the SAT exams.
Accreditation
In 2010 MJIS gained accreditation from CITA. CITA was later acquired by AdvancEd and so the school was re-accredited by AdvancEd in 2015. The school achieved a full accreditation lasting five years.
In 2017, Maarif for Education and Training became the first organisation in Saudi Arabia to gain System Accreditation from AdvancEd. Due to this, all schools run by Maarif are accredited for the next five years.
The school has hosted some of AdvancEd's global conferences.[3]
Campus & Facilities
Each classroom is air-conditioned with a smart board projector system. Both the boys' and girls' campus have sports facilities, science labs, computer labs and libraries.
