Martin Hayes (bishop)
Martin Hayes (born 24 October 1959) is an Irish prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He has been the Bishop of the Diocese of Kilmore since 2020.

From Borris, Twomileborris, County Tipperary, Hayes, was educated locally at Thurles CBS, before going to NIHE Limerick where he gained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in manufacturing engineering and working in computer manufacturing, in Amdal in Swords, Dublin.[1]
In 1983 he entered St. Patrick's College, Thurles to train for the priesthood, qualifying with a certificate in philosophy (NCEA) and diploma in theology (awarded by the Pontifical University, Maynooth) before being ordained in 1989.[2] Staying at the Irish College in Rome while he studied at the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome he completed a Licentiate in Philosophy (Anthropology) in 1991,[3] returning to Thurles to join the teaching staff at St. Patrick's College.[4] He also served as Bursar at the College.
Fr. Hayes studied ecology at the Jesuit school in Sacramento, California. He audited the Diploma and MA in Theology (Ecology and Religion) for the Missionary Society of St. Columban, Dalgan Park.
In 2020, he was appointed Bishop of Kilmore and was ordained on 20 September 2020 at Cavan Cathedral.[5]
