Maura Hirschauer
Maura Hirschauer is a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives from the 49th district since January 13, 2021. The 49th district, located in the Chicagoland area, includes parts of Aurora, Bartlett, Batavia, Elgin, Geneva, Naperville, North Aurora, South Elgin, St. Charles, Warrenville, Wayne, and West Chicago.[1]

Hirschauer was elected to the 49th district to succeed outgoing then-State Representative Karina Villa.
Early life, education, and career
Hirschauer graduated from Colby College with a B.A. in English and received primary education certification from the University of Colorado.[2] She would work as a 3rd and 4th grade teacher in the Denver area and in Portola Valley, California and would leave to spend more time raising her children. She would continue to teach by teaching ESL and "literacy to elementary students in a volunteer program."[3] After she and her family moved to Batavia, Illinois, she would join and eventually become President of the Batavia Mothers' Club Foundation. In January 2018, she helped found the Kane and Kendall chapter of the Moms Demand Action and has played an active role since its founding.[2][3] She and her family worked as canvassers during the 2018 elections "for capable, inspiring candidates that they believed could enact real change."[3]
