Mayanga Maku

Jean Adelard Mayanga Maku (born 31 October 1948) is a Congolese football forward who played for Zaire in the 1974 FIFA World Cup.[2] He also played for AS Vita Club.

Mayanga scored three goals for Zaire at the 1972 African Cup of Nations finals.[3] He represented Zaire in international competition as late as 1979, appearing in a 1980 African Cup of Nations qualifying match versus Guinea in Kinshasa.[4]

Maku Mayanga ended his player career in Belgian sides as Olympic de Charleroi and later became a trainer for the youth teams. His son Alba was also footballer in Belgian Second Division level. In 2018, his grand-son, Alan, knocks at the door of the "A" team of Sporting Anderlecht.[5]

In 2006, he was selected by CAF as one of the best 200 African football players of the last 50 years.[6]

Private life

After his career, Maku Mayanga installed his family in Belgium near Charleroi. His son Alba was a footballer in Belgian Second Division level. Maku is the father of a daughter named Trésor who is working as a nurse. In 2018, his grand-son, Alan, knocked at the door of the "A" team of Sporting Anderlecht. Maku's nephews Michael and Jordan were also football player in Belgium Division 4.[7]
