Miss International 2002

Miss International 2002, the 42nd Miss International pageant, took place on 30 September 2002 in Tokyo, Japan[1] at the Century Hyatt. Małgorzata Rożniecka of Poland crowned her successor Christina Sawaya of Lebanon at the end of the event.[2][3]

This edition also saw the crowning of the first ever Middle Eastern descent women to win Miss International, although representing Lebanon which is dominantly Muslim country, Christina Sawaya is a conservative Catholic Christian that comes from Lebanon, the only Middle Eastern country where the president is Christian by the constitution that time.[4][5][6]
