Mutahi Kagwe
Hon. Mutahi Kagwe, EGH is the Cabinet Secretary for Health in the Republic of Kenya. He took his oath of office on Friday, February 28th, 2020. He is a tenured Kenyan politician who served as the first Senator of Nyeri County.

Hon. Mutahi Kagwe holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Insurance) degree from the University of Nairobi and an MBA from the United States International University. From 2002 – 2007, Senator Kagwe served as the fifth Member of Parliament for Mukurweini Constituency, Nyeri Kenya. As a Member of Parliament, he was the Chair of Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Trade, Tourism, and Planning, before his appointment as a Cabinet Minister for Information and Communications. Beginning March 2020, he led Kenya's National Emergency Response Committee in its fight against the coronavirus pandemic. His efforts, amid countless domestic and local challenges, earned him International recognition in the Wall Street Journal.
As Cabinet Minister, he spearheaded the construction of the transformational East African Marine System (T.E.A.M.S) – The first Fibre Optic Project for Eastern Africa. It was during his term as Cabinet Minister that Kenya launched ‘Mpesa,’ the world's first-ever mobile money transfer system. As Senator, his credits include the championing of “The Best Classroom,” an Early Childhood Education program that aspires to promote the quality provision of ECDE nationwide. He is also credited with having sponsored the Cyber Security and Protection Bill in the Senate of Kenya.
He has many professional memberships including, the Marketing Society of Kenya, the Kenya Institute of Management, the parliamentarian network of the World Bank,[3] and the commonwealth parliamentary association.
Outside of politics he has held and continues to hold many positions including, Chairman of several corporate boards. He is also the former Multimedia University Council Chairman.
Senator Kagwe holds both a Bachelor's and a Master's degrees. He attended Kihate Primary School (1965- 1971), Kagumo High School- both O levels and A levels (1972- 1977), Nairobi University (1978- 1981), United States International University- USIU (1988- 1992).
He was commended with The Elder of the Golden Heart by the President of the Republic of Kenya in recognition of his distinguished service to the nation.
