Neha Kirpal

For over a decade, Neha Kirpal worked at the intersection of the creative and social sectors. Having founded India Art Fair, India’s first international art fair, she ran it successfully for ten years before selling the business & moving her focus entirely to the marginalized sector of mental health. As a social entrepreneur, Neha brings tremendous experience in weaving impact networks with great passion and commitment to solving the mental healthcare gap,  stemming from her own family’s struggles with mental health issues for over three decades.

In  2019,  Neha joined  Dr.  Amit  Malik as co-founder at  InnerHour,  a  tech-led mental health platform that delivers omnichannel products  &  services for a  range  of mental health conditions.

Life

Neha Kirpal was born in New Delhi and that was where she spent her childhood. She went to school at Sardar Patel Vidyalaya before studying Political Science at Lady Shri Ram College which is also in her home city. After working in the marketing communications sector in India for a few years, Neha moved to London for a postgraduate degree at the University of the Arts London.

In 2008, she founded an international art fair called India Art Fair which she ran successfully for ten years before selling the business to MCH Basel. Since 2018, she has moved from the creative industry to mental health. As a social entrepreneur and a trained counselor, Neha has a passion for transforming the mental health service offerings in India, stemming from her own family experiences with a range of mental health conditions.

Her consulting venture, Librum Ltd, was launched in the UK in 2019 as the world’s first strategic think tank for mental health solutions; co-founded with leading global scientist Dr. Vikram Patel and policy expert Dr. Shekhar Saxena.

Neha’s full focus is now on InnerHour, where she has joined Dr. Amit Malik as co-founder. The mental health startup solves for ease of access and delivery of early interventions that help users with personalized self-help tools to support their mental health journey. Today, InnerHour has over 900,000 users from 100 cities globally and is ranked 1-2 in self-care apps globally.

As a mental health caregiver, Neha has lent her voice to a global mental health advocacy movement across 15 countries called Speak your Mind, led by United for Global Mental Health, UK. A  global mental health ambassador,  Neha is a  member ff the general body of  Sangath,  an International  NGO  specializing in mental health research, and is the India Advisor for City Mental Health Alliance (UK). Her mental health consulting venture Librum Ltd (UK) works with international NGOs, governments & institutions on systems solutions for global mental health.

An Aspen fellow and an Eisenhower fellow, Neha was also a part of the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders community from 2015 to 2020.

Awards

On International Women's Day in 2015, she received the Nari Shakti Puraskar. from the then Indian President Pranab Mukherjee.[5] She was one of the first eight Nari Shakti Awardees for her leadership and achievement the year before.

Neha has been listed in Forbes "40 under 40" and amongst India's "Most Powerful Women" according to "Business Today" for three years running.[1]
