History
Co-founded by David Mark Greaves and Bernice Elizabeth Green, the paper started as a monthly, with the couple working from the parlor floor of a Brooklyn brownstone. Greaves, the publisher, soon expanded the venture to a full enterprise – one of the longest continuously operating small businesses in the neighborhood. It now enjoys a 20,000 weekly printing in an office bordering Clinton Hill and Bedford-Stuyvesant, as a solely owned publication under the aegis of DBG Media, Publishers of Our Time Press, Inc.
The paper covers a range of issues including housing, education, local politics, the national scene and more. It also offers human interest stories and profiles, among its regular features. Danielle Douglass of The Washington Post and Errol Louis, host of Inside City Hall and a former columnist for The New York Daily News, are former recurring Our Time Press columnists.
Green, a consultant in strategic marketing and editorial content to Our Time Press, is a former news, entertainment and corporate communications executive, and has held positions with CBS, The New York Amsterdam News, Random House and Black Enterprise magazine, among others.
