Pagetopsis maculatus

Pagetopsis maculatus is a species of crocodile icefish with a circum-Antarctic distribution on the continental shelf from 200 to 800m (656 to 2624 ft). This species is greyish-green but whitish ventrally with 15 dark cross-bars on each side of its body that are lighter at the center. Dark stripes are also present on the cheek and otherwise uniformly blackish first dorsal fin. The large eyes and reported depths of capture seem to infer that this species inhabits deeper water than its congener (Pagetopsis macropterus). It reaches a maximum length of 25cm (9.8 inches). [1]
