Rais-de-cœur
Rais-de-cœur (also known as leaf and dart) is an ornamental motif made up of heart-shaped leaves alternating with spearheads. This motif was used in Ancient Greek and Roman architecture. It was taken up again during the Renaissance, abundantly in the 18th century, being very used in the Louis XVI style.[1] According to Jean-Marie Pérouse de Montclos, the "word is hardly used in the singular (rai-de-cœur)".[2].
