The RideKC brand was first adopted by the Kansas City Streetcar Authority, operators of the future KC Streetcar line in Kansas City, Missouri, in August 2014.[1][2] The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority adopted RideKC in November,[3] followed by Johnson County Transit, IndeBus and Unified Government Transit.
Buses using the RideKC livery rolled out in Kansas City and Johnson County in October 2015.[4][5] UG Transit will transition sometime in 2016, with IndeBus co-branding until a change further in the future.[6]
As part of the consolidation efforts, a regionwide local fare for buses took effect beginning in January 2016.[7][8]
The RideKC website launched in October 2015 to consolidate schedules, maps and other information for all participating transit agencies.[9]
