Reception
Critical response
Upam Buzarbaruah, writing for Times of India gave three stars out of five and termed it as "An unimpressive combination of action and drama." Buzarbaruah opined that inspite of weak script team SOS Kolkata has put up a decent show. He praised acting, music and the special effects, but was critical that research and character sketches was not given due importance. He concluded the review with remark, "Overall, SOS Kolkata is a one-time watch at best." Film Critic Aritra Bannerjee said that the film is "A poor copy of other Bollywood and Hollywood Action films. Action scenes are OK, VFX is worst and cliche ending." Rupam Dutta, another film critic, thinks that "Why a new production house will do big budget Action film when they are not capable to do so."
