He started his career in television and then made his debut on the silver screen with the title role in Bengali film Gangster
Yash Dasgupta is best known for his roles in Bojhena Se Bojhena and Na Aana Is Des Laado.
Yash Dasgupta won the Glam King title in the Unish Kuri Streax Glam Hunt held in Kolkata.[2] Thereafter, he shifted his base to Mumbai to pursue career in acting, joined acting school, and got his first break as an actor in the Television Industry. Yash Dasgupta said in an interview with TImes of India, "I attended an acting workshop at Roshan Taneja's acting school and worked in a few Hindi serials too."[3]
He is an entrant to the Calcutta Times most desirable men in the Top 10.[4][5]
Early life and background
Yash Dasgupta was born to Dipak Dasgupta and Jayati Dasgupta. He is his parents’ only child. In his early childhood, he travelled all over India due to his parent's transferable work.
He has lived in Delhi, Mumbai, Madhya Pradesh, Sikkim among others due to him attending schools in different places. His interest in acting came from these formative years, as he was very fond of extracurricular activities. [3][6]
Career
Early career
Dasgupta began his acting career in selective roles on national television. He played a fun loving son as Suraj Dharamraj Mahiyavanshi in Bandini, and a character with grey shades as Ketan Sanghvi with Ram Kapoor in Basera [7] He played the role of Karan (Santosh's son, Diya and Jhanvi's cousin brother), in Na Aana Is Des Laado, a story which dealt with the social evil of female infanticide, and concentrates on the problems faced by women in a male-dominated world. Yash did episodic roles as Viraj, a mime artist in Adaalat.[8] He also enacted Demon Kalketu in a mythology called Mahima Shanidev Kii.[9]
In Kolkata Yash had also participated in ETV Bangla celebrity dance reality show Ritur Mela Jhoom Tara Ra Ra which was directed by Shiboprosad Mukherjee [10]
2013-present
Yash played the popular role of Aranya Singha Roy with Madhumita Sarkar (Pakhi Ghosh Dastidar), in Bojhena Se Bojhena a young business tycoon, an adaptation in Bengali of the popular Hindi TV series Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? aired on Star Jalsha from 4 November 2013 to 18 June 2016.[11]
In 2015, Yash had an accident on the sets of "Bojhena se Bojhena" where his forearms were burnt while shooting a Diwali sequence.
He was out of action to recuperate and later won the popular awards.
Films
Yash was launched in films by Shree Venkatesh Films. Mahendra Soni said "We intend to launch Yash in films. He is extremely popular among the audience, so it will be a project that can do justice to his fandom. It will be an out-and-out commercial film, as Yashh connects with the masses well. We will give him time to prepare before the film goes on floor."[13]
The debut film of Yash Dasgupta with costar Mimi Chakraborty is a romantic thriller directed by Birsa Dasgupta and parts of it were shot in Istanbul Turkey[14][15][16]
Yash was stranded with his film production unit amid the attempted military coup in Istanbul, Turkey[17][18][19][20][21] Later the shooting of the film resumed.[22]
Other appearances
Dasgupta had performed in award ceremonies such as Colors Golden Petal Awards 2011 and Telly Academy Awards 2014. He performed in Jaya Hey, dedicated to the Kolkata Police. He had also anchored for a popular Television Award night, as Aranya (ASR) in Bengal Star Jalsha Parivar Awards 2014.[23]
Personal life
Dasgupta is a movie-buff, and acting is his life. He loves to travel and is a keen photographer. He is a sports enthusiast, especially adventure sports. He is a fitness freak with interests in bodybuilding and yoga.[24][25][26] He is easy going, an animal lover.[27][28] [29]
