Written and produced by Roy Wood, "See My Baby Jive" was the second single by Wood's band and their first to reach number one in the UK Singles Chart, spending four weeks at the top of the chart during May and June 1973.[3] It also reached number one in the Irish IRMA chart[4] and number 5 in the German official singles chart. The song was a #12 hit nationally in Australia, reaching even higher in some regional charts.[5] The single's label stated 'Vocal Backing - The Suedettes'.[6] It was the sixth best selling UK single in 1973.[7]

ABBA later acknowledged its influence on their first major international hit "Waterloo" the following year.[8][9] A cover version by Flash Cadillac & the Continental Kids was released in 1977.[10]
