Early life and career
Born in Hong Kong, Lee immigrated with her parents to Toronto in 1988. She attended the University of Toronto, earning a Bachelor of Business Commerce in 2001. She entered the 2003 Miss Hong Kong pageant as an overseas contestant, winning Miss Photogenic and Miss Talent.[3] Lee subsequently signed with broadcasting giant TVB and debuted as an actress in The Last Breakthrough (Chinese: 天涯俠醫).
In 2014, Lee portrayed the role of Jessica Tan in the Singaporean sitcom Spouse for House.
In 2015, Lee announced on her Weibo blog that she decided to change her Chinese stage name, Lee Sze Wan (李詩韻), back to her birth name, Lee Sze Wa (李施嬅), in memory of her grandmother, who had passed away that year.
In 2017, Lee won Best Actress at the European Cinematography Awards and Los Angeles Film Awards for her role in the American short film Once More.[4][5]
In 2018, Lee participated in Canadian television crime drama Blood and Water (Chinese: 血與水)[6] for which she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the 7th Canadian Screen Awards.[7] In April 2019, Lee announced that she will not be renewing her contract with TVB, with intentions to pursue opportunities internationally.[8] Her last drama at TVB, Forensic Heroes IV, aired in February 2020. It was announced in May 2019 that she will be managed by American talent agency Authentic for work in North America.[9]
Lee's portrayal of Alex Cheung and Coco in the 2019 Hong Kong supernatural romance drama Barrack O'Karma gained popularity. At the 2019 TVB Anniversary Awards, she won Most Popular On-Screen Partnership with her Barrack O'Karma co-star Joel Chan.[10] Nominated for the fourth time for Most Popular Female Character, she won the award alongside Miriam Yeung for her dual role as Alex Cheung/Coco.
In June 2020, Lee announced that she will be filming Barrack O'Karma 2 in August. She has also being awarded for her first singles Second Love with Gabriel Harrison.
