Territory Storm

Territory Storm, also referred to as Northern Territory Storm or NT Storm, is an Australian netball team that represents Netball Northern Territory in the Australian Netball League. Territory Storm have played in the ANL since 2008, missing only the 2016 season. In 2017, after forming a partnership with Sunshine Coast Lightning, they effectively became Lightning's reserve team.

History

Early years

Territory Storm originally played in the Australian Netball League between 2008 and 2015.[1][2][3][4][5] However in December 2015, Netball Northern Territory announced that they were temporarily withdrawing Storm from the ANL league due to a lack of proper playing facilities and the cost of traveling interstate for away matches.[6][7][8]

Sunshine Coast Lightning

After missing the 2016 Australian Netball League season, Territory Storm rejoined in 2017 after forming a partnership with Sunshine Coast Lightning. This effectively saw Storm become Lightning's reserve team.[9][10][11][12] Several Lightning players, including Cara Koenen, Annika Lee-Jones, Peace Proscovia, and Jacqui Russell, would subsequently line out for Storm.[13]

Home venues

Territory Storm initially played their home games at various venues in and around Marrara, Northern Territory. These included outdoor courts, the Marrara Indoor Stadium and Darwin Basketball Association courts.[1][7] They have occasionally played home games in Alice Springs.[10] Since forming a partnership with Sunshine Coast Lightning, Storm have also played homes games at USC Stadium, usually as part of a double header.[14][15][16] In 2019 they began to play home games at the Territory Netball Stadium.[16]
