The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Taiwan

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Taiwan reported 81,034 members in 17 stakes, one district, 117 congregations (108 wards and 9 branches), two missions, and one temple, as of December 31, 2018.[1][2]

History

In June 1956, four missionaries arrived in Taiwan.[3]

Hu Wei-I, a convert, helped translate the Book of Mormon into Mandarin Chinese.[4]

In November 1984, Gordon B. Hinckley dedicated the Taipei Taiwan Temple.[5]

In 2020, the LDS Church canceled services and other public gatherings indefinitely in response to the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.[6]
