Links with Quentin40 and Puritano's song 'Thoiry"

"Thoiry" is an italian song by young trappers Quentin40 and Puritano. The small town of Thoiry is home to the "Parc Zoologique de Thoiry". Quentin40 and Puritano refer to a line of the movie “La Haine” (“The hate”) by Mathieu Kassovitz, where the three main characters Vinz, Hubert and Said scream: "On n’est pas à Thoiry" ("we're not in Thoiry", actually referring to the zoo in Thoiry) to a bunch of reporters who are visiting their block to document the life in the outskirts of Paris. Not only the trappers quote "La Haine", they also imitate the suburban french slang "verlan" through their italian lyrics, by cutting off the end of their words. The metaphor of the zoo describes the mental and emotional captivity lived by the citizens of the metropolitan suburban areas, prisoners of a life of hardships and small crimes. The media pictures the inhabitants of the suburbs as outcasts, unable to fit in society and live by acceptable social standards, when in actuality they're living behind the bars of their own existential condition, caged like wild animals in a zoo.
