Tom Hancock (basketball)

Tom Hancock (born January 15, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.) is an American basketball coach. Hancock was named Gulf South Conference Coach of the Year 1982 - 83. His 1982 - 83 and 1987 - 88 teams won the Gulf South Conference Championship. His teams were rated in the top 20 in the nation for Division II Men's Basketball four times and went to the NCAA Tournament twice. He was named the Best Men's Basketball Coach in the history of Tennessee Martin University by the ESPN Encyclopedia of College Basketball. Hancock was named as one of the coaches in the BBL All-Star game for 1993, and named BBL Coach of the Month for November 1996 and October 2006. The Oldham Celtics and Hancock were named The Best Basketball Development Program in the United Kingdom by the British Government for 1992 - 93. In March, 1993, he was a guest Lecturer at Leeds University.
