Tripoline
Tripoline is a type of ribbon pasta noodles, similar to mafaldine. It is a thick ribbon ridged on one side.[1]

In the 1930s, Italy fascism celebrated the Italian colonial empire with new pasta shapes recalling the African lands: tripoline (Tripolitania), bengasine (Bengasi), assabesi (Assab), and abissine (Abissinia). Afterwards, to erase references to fascist colonialism, tripoline were renamed as farfalline (small butterflies).
