Groundbreaking was held on August 4, 2007.[4] A public open house was held 9–24 April 2010 prior to the dedication of the temple on 2 May 2010.[5] Following dedication, only church members in good standing may enter an LDS temple.

In 2020, like all the church's other temples, the Vancouver British Columbia Temple was closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[6]
