Volkswagen Phideon
The Volkswagen Phideon (Chinese: 輝昂; pinyin: Huī áng) is an executive sedan manufactured by the German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen, described by Volkswagen as their "premium class" vehicle. Introduced at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the Phideon is aimed at the market in China.[1]

Overview
The Volkswagen Phideon is the first car to be based on Volkswagen’s Modular Longitudinal Matrix (MLB) platform, it is powered by a 296bhp 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine and is available with optional 4Motion four-wheel drive with a plug-in hybrid 2.0-liter version also available and the entry model is a front-wheel-drive 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder EA888 engine version also available producing 224 hp and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque and mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. version and a hybrid version also available. The Phideon is also the first Volkswagen to have a camera-based night vision system.[2]
The Phideon features the new Active Info Display which replaced the conventional instrument cluster, and chauffeur mode which allows passengers to send content to the infotainment system. Sales in China officially started in July 2016. A Plug-in hybrid version was launched in April 2017.[3]
In terms of sales, the Phideon was launched in 2016 and the best year is 2018 when sales hit 24,471 units before plummeting to 14,019 cars in 2019.[4]

2021 facelift
A facelifted version of the market’s Volkswagen Phideon luxury sedan was revealed for the 2021 model year during the 2020 Guangzhou Auto Show.[4] The facelift introduced a new front bumper adding chrome inserts and modifying the sections around the fog lights with the grilles updated with a illuminated badge flanked by an LED daytime running light strip that extends on the sides to meet the redesigned headlights. No mechanical modifications were made while the two higher trim levels were cancelled leaving the 2.0 TSI engine producing 221 horsepower and 258 pound-feet (350 Newton-meters) of torque the only model offered. The engine sends power via a seven-speed DSG exclusively to the front wheels with the V6 4Motion variant cancelled.[5]
