Westfield Coomera

Westfield Coomera is a shopping centre in the Gold Coast suburb of Coomera in Queensland, Australia. It is located adjacent to the Coomera railway station and 500 metres from the Pacific Motorway that connects Coomera with the southern suburbs of the Gold Coast as well as Brisbane. Westfield Coomera was developed by the Scentre Group and is planned to be the heart of the booming northern region of the Gold Coast.[1] The shopping centre opened on 11 October 2018.[2][3]

Construction

The development was initially announced in August 2017, after being approved by the Gold Coast City Council after almost 20 years of planning and debate. Westfield Coomera was expected to cost approximately $470 million and create 7,500 jobs[4] during both the construction and operating phase of the new shopping centre.[5] It was developed by the Queensland Investment Corporation and Scentre Group.[6]

Layout

The new shopping centre precinct opened with 140 specialty stores, anchored by Woolworths, Coles, Kmart, Target and Event Cinemas.[7]

Fresh Food Marketplace

The Fresh Food Marketplace at the Westfield Coomera is a market-inspired experience, and includes Coles and Woolworths supermarkets as well as numerous fresh food stores.[8]

Outdoor dining precinct

Westfield Coomera includes an outdoor dining precinct offering a range of contemporary restaurants, in an open-air courtyard.[8]

Entertainment precinct

The shopping centre aims to deliver a complete day-out experience that can be enjoyed by the whole community. The Entertainment precinct includes an Event Cinemas complex, the first iPlay Adventure Family Entertainment Centre in Australia, The Park Coomera which is a "Ten-pin Bowling and mini golf meets Beer Garden" space as well as plenty of outdoor space, including a kids' play zone.[8]

Fashion, family and lifestyle

Westfield Coomera includes a cluster of specialty stores suited for the whole family, including a Kmart and Target discounts department stores.[8]

Public transport

Westfield Coomera is located adjacent to Coomera railway station which provides bus and train connections. The Gold Coast railway line connects the suburb Brisbane City as well as southern Gold Coast suburbs, terminating at Varsity Lakes. A number of Surfside Buslines services connect Coomera with the surrounding suburbs, including Ormeau to the north and Helensvale just south of Coomera.

Travelling by car

The new shopping centre is located on Foxwell Road in Coomera adjacent to the Coomera railway station and only a few hundred meters from the Pacific Motorway.
