Wierum, Friesland
Wierum is a village in Noardeast-Fryslân in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands with a population of around 339 in January 2017.[1] Before 2019, the village was part of the Dongeradeel municipality.

It features in The Wheel On The School by Meindert DeJong, where it has been renamed Shora. Wierum was DeJong's birthplace.
There is also an 11th-century church and a windmill in the village. Dejong made his hometown Wierum a notably popular area because of his popular novel "The Wheel on the School."
