Xiangtan University
Xiangtan University (XTU; simplified Chinese: 湘潭大学; traditional Chinese: 湘潭大學; pinyin: Xiāngtán Dàxué) is a university located in Xiangtan, Hunan, China. It was founded in 1958 and is currently organized into 22 schools and departments.

History
In 1958, under the proposal of the Supreme leader of China Mao Zedong, Xiangtan University was founded in Xiangtan County of Hunan Province, where Mao was born and grew up.. The University ceased to run by the order of the provincial authority in 1959, but then recovered its function in 1974.
