Šumice lies approximately 20 kilometres (12 mi) east of Uherské Hradiště, 23 km (14 mi) south of Zlín, and 266 km (165 mi) south-east of Prague.
History
The first mention of Šumice dates back to 1380 when the name of the village was Schumitz. The current name dates from 1924.
