Palmeiras was drawn on the Group B.[35] On March 16, 2020 was announced that the tournament was paralyzed due to coronavirus pandemic.[36] On July 16 the return of the competition was announced by the Federação Paulista de Futebol.[37]

Copa Libertadores
Group stage
The draw for the qualifying stages and group stage was held on 17 December 2019, 20:30 PYST (UTC−3), at the CONMEBOL Convention Centre in Luque, Paraguay.[38][39][40]
On 12 March 2020, CONMEBOL announced that the tournament would be temporarily suspended after matchday 2 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with matches on matchday 3, originally scheduled for 17–19 March 2020, postponed to a later date to be confirmed.[41] On 18 March 2020, CONMEBOL announced that the tournament would be suspended until 5 May 2020.[42] On 17 April 2020, CONMEBOL announced that the tournament would be suspended indefinitely, and no date had been set for its resumption.[43] On 10 July 2020, CONMEBOL announced the new schedule for the remainder of the competition.[44][45]
