Akuapim South Municipal District

Akuapim South District is one of the thirty-three (33) districts in Eastern Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988 from the former Akuapim District. It was formerly part of the then-larger and original Akuapim South Municipal District until 6 February 2012, when it was split off to become a new Akuapim South District; thus the original remaining part was renamed as Nsawam Adoagyire Municipal District. The municipality is located in the southeast part of Eastern Region and has Aburi as its capital town.
