Before Eurovision
Eurovision 2007 : et si on gagnait ?
Eurovision 2007 : et si on gagnait ? was the national final organised by France Télévisions to select France's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2007. The competition took place on 6 March 2007, produced at the La Plaine St-Denis studios in Paris and hosted by Julien Lepers and Tex. The show was broadcast on France 3.
Competing entries
1,500 submissions were received after France Télévisions requested proposals from successful French acts over the last five years.[1] Headed by the French Head of Delegation for the Eurovision Song Contest Bruno Berberes, the five television channels of France Télévisions: France 2, France 3, France 4, France 5 and RFO reviewed the received submissions and selected two entries each to compete in the national final based on different criteria:[2]
- France 2 – Variety
- France 3 – Newcomers
- France 4 – Rap and rock music
- France 5 – Pop music
- RFO – World music (one artist was selected via 9 Semaines et 1 Jour)[3]
The competing artists and songs were announced on 2 February 2007.[4]
Final
The final took place on 6 March 2007. Ten entries competed and the winner was selected by the combination of public televoting (50%) and a jury panel headed by Jean-Paul Cara (50%) over two rounds. In the first round, the top two entries were selected to proceed to the second round, the superfinal: "L'amour à la française" performed by Les Fatals Picards and "On and On" performed by Medi-T. In the superfinal, "L'amour à la française" performed by Les Fatals Picards was selected as the winner.[5]
