History
The station was planned by Fingal County Council as part of Hansfield Strategic Development Zone.[4] While the railway line was opened in September 2010 as planned, Hansfield station remained closed because no road access to the station from the surrounding housing estates existed.[5] When funding was provided in 2011 for the access road,[6] Iarnród Éireann took possession of land to proceed. The station opened on Friday 28 June 2013.[7]
