Hughes, Northern Territory
Hughes is an outer rural locality of Darwin. The name of the locality derived from the war-time airfield, the Hughes Airfield , which was named after W A Hughes who was the Director of Mines in the Northern Territory before the Second World War.[1]

Hughes Airfield was recently resurfaced by the Northern Territory Government and is sometimes used by water-bombing aircraft during bushfire season. [8]
