The Australian Government has offered diplomatic representation in Pretoria, South Africa since 1946. Between 1961 and 1994 the designation of the Australian representative in South Africa changed from High Commissioner to Ambassador.[1] The High Commissioner is also cross-accredited to Angola, Botswana (as High Commissioner), Lesotho (as High Commissioner), Mozambique (as High Commissioner), Namibia (as High Commissioner) and Eswatini (as High Commissioner) – as well as representative to the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
