Mahendra Perera
Mahendra Shrikantha Perera (born 17 August, as මහේන්ද්ර පෙරේරා) [Sinhala]), is an actor in Sri Lankan cinema, stage drama and television.[2] Performing from drama to comedy, Perera rose to prominence in 2004 by playing the male lead in the film Mille Soya, and later the 2008 film Machan.[3]

Personal life
He was born on 17 August and completed his education in Thurstan College. He is married to Thakshila Damayanthi and the couple has three sons, Uvin Gayanaka, Navin Chandula and Pravin Ishanka – all Wesleyites.[4]
Career
His first stage play was Ahimi Jeevitha staged in Lionel Wendt.[5] Mahendra met with Arisen Ahubudu who first introduced him to Gamini Fonseka. His maiden cinematic experience came through 1978 film Sakwithi Suwaya with the role ‘Berty Malli’. He studied drama from Dr. Salaman Fonseka and Helena Lehthimaki, where he followed a three-year course under Lehthimaki during which they did Punthila. His maiden television acting came through Tharadevi. Then he acted in the serial Diyaketa Pahana where he won Sumathi award.[4]
Apart from acting, Perera also worked as the art director in the film Pawuru Walalu.[4]

Filmography
Perera started his film career with Sakvithi Suvaya back in 1982, directed by Gamini Fonseka.[41] Then he continued to be one of most influential cinema actors in Sinhala cinema. His most popular cinema acting came through films Mille Soya, Machan, Bahubuthayo and Kosthapal Punyasoma.[42]
