Scheelite, California
Scheelite was an unincorporated community in Inyo County, California.[1] It was located 3 miles (4.8 km) north-northwest of Mount Tom,[2] at an elevation of 6,929 feet (2,112 m).[1] Scheelite, a tungsten ore, was mined in the neighborhood.[2]

History
The hamlet was inhabited by families of employees of Union Carbide Corporation's Pine Creek tungsten mining and milling operations.[3]During the winter of 1969–70, several houses were damaged by heavy snow loads. At that point, Scheelite was abandoned as most families moved to Bishop. The houses at Scheelite were later demolished.
