Background
The tour was announced by the band on August 14, 2017, in a video posted on their official Facebook account. It was revealed that they would be joined by an orchestra to perform reworked versions of some of their well-known songs included on their fourth studio album, Synthesis (2017). For each city on the tour, a local orchestra is assembled by the show's conductor, Susie Seiter.[3][4] According to the band's lead singer Amy Lee, the goal behind the performances of the tour was to emphasize the vocal performance, emotions and stories behind the lyrics of the band's songs.[5] With the purchase of tickets for the concerts, concertgoers received a free download of the album along with an instant download of the reworked version of "Bring Me to Life" included on Synthesis.[5]
It was announced on March 7, 2018, that violinist Lindsey Stirling would be co-headlining for the second leg of the North American tour. A teaser video featuring Stirling as an obsessed Evanescence fan was released across social media to tease the upcoming summer trek.[6] Both artists alternated on who headlined each night.[7]
