Vellore Institute of Technology
Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) is a private deemed university[1][2][3][4] located in Vellore, India. Founded in 1984, as Vellore Engineering College, by G. Viswanathan, the institution offers 54 Undergraduate, 34 Postgraduate, 9 Integrated, 2 Research and 2 M.Tech Industrial Programmes.[5] It has campuses in Vellore, Amravati, Bhopal and Chennai.[6]

Academics
VIT consolidated its disciplines into 20 Schools of Study with the addition of the VIT Law School at its Chennai campus.[7][8]
VIT implements the Fully Flexible Credit System (FFCS) which gives the students flexibility to make their own time tables by choosing the subjects and the faculties under whose guidance they want to study.[9][8]
Admission
VIT admits bachelor students through its own engineering entrance exam, called the Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE).[6] It is conducted every year in the month of April and May. The exam has been conducted online since 2013[10] and in 2018, 212,000 students have registered.[11] VITEEE 2021 will be held in 2nd to 3rd week of April.[12]

VIT was ranked 801–1000 in the world by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings of 2020[16] and 201-250 in Asia.[17] The QS World University Rankings ranked it 228 in Asia in 2020.[14]
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked VIT 28 overall in India in 2020[18] and 16 among universities.[19]
Among engineering colleges in India, VIT was ranked 15 in 2020[20] and 13 by Outlook India.[21] The Week ranked it 19 in 2019[22] and India Today ranked it 20th among engineering colleges in 2020.[23]
The VIT Business School was ranked 55 among management schools in India by NIRF in 2020.[24]
In August 2019, Institutes of Eminence (IoE) was give to 10 Government Institutions and 10 Private Institutions, VIT has been recognized one among the private institutions.[25][26][27][28]
Accreditation
VIT has been accredited with the following:
- A grade by NAAC (National Accreditation and Assessment Council), it has completed 3 cycles of accreditation and going for 4th cycle.[29]
- It is preparing for the third round of accreditation by the NBA (National Board of Accreditation).[30]
- It is accredited by the International accrediting agencies ABET (Accredition Board for Engineering and Technology).[31][32][33]
- ACBSP (Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs) has accredited the VIT Business School.[34]
- ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) has accredited the BBA program.[35]
Cultural and fests
Riviera
First edition of Riviera was in the year 2002, it is the International cultural & sports festival happens in VIT Vellore campus primarily organised by the students of the institute, all kinds of sports activities, literary events, gaming competitions, music and dance competitions, cultural parade, pro shows are some of the usual attractions of it.[36]
