It was opened as a secondary school in 2008. In 2015 Wren Academy opened a primary school phase.

The school is sponsored by London Diocesan Board for Schools and a broadly Christian ethos guided from the Church of England.

The Academy is an associate member of the Woodard group of schools.

Adam Justice-Mills convicted of 78 counts of child sexual offences in Barnet and Haringey between 2000 and 2020[2] was a cover supervisor at the school from September 2010 to July 2014[3] [4]

The Academy has expressed clearly that it's thoughts and concerns are with the victims of the case, who were not Wren Academy students. The school was not made aware of the case by the authorities until sentencing was imminent and played no part in the proceedings.

Wren Academy has not acknowledged any responsibility for allowing Adam Justice-Mills into the school
