Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006
Israel’s entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 was "Together We Are One" by Eddie Butler,[1] who had previously represented Israel in the 1999 European Song Contest. The song was written by Orly Burg, Osnat Zabag, Eddie Butler, and was composed by Eddie Butler. It was given a new version with more English lyrics (and title) for performing at the Eurovision.

Before Eurovision
Kdam Eurovision 2006
The Israeli entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 was selected through Kdam Eurovision 2006, the national final format organised by IBA. The show took place on 15 March 2006 at the Nakdi Studios in Jerusalem, hosted by Yael Bar Zohar and Eden Harel and broadcast on Channel 1 as well as online via iba.org.il/eurovil.
Competing entries
IBA invited twelve artists to participate in the competition. The competing acts were announced on 15 December 2005.[2] Avi Greinik, Gabi Shushan, Uzi Fux & Cheri, Maya Bouskilla and Rama Messinger later withdrew from the national final and were replaced by Avi Peretz, Svika Pick and Tzipi Mash'hid.[3] The competing songs were presented during a radio programme on Reshet Gimmel on 5 March 2006.[4]

Final
The final took place on 15 March 2006. Eleven entries competed and the winner, "Ze Hazman" performed by Eddie Butler, was selected by a combination of the votes from ten voting groups: four regional juries, votes from the studio audience, telephone votes from the public divided into four regions and SMS votes from the public.

At Eurovision
Israel automatically qualified in the final due to Shiri Maimon's fourth place in 2005,He performed 3rd, following Moldova and preceding Latvia but ended with only four points in the final (all from France), Israel finished in second to last place, meaning that Israel would have to compete in the semi-final of 2007 contest.
