Its most important sight is a castle. It took part of its name after an ancient lime tree that still grows in the garden adjacent to the castle ("nad lipou" means "above a lime tree"). The tree is believed to be 700–900 years old.
A famous Jindřichův Hradec–Obrataň narrow gauge railway runs through the town.
