History
The constituency was formed for the 1998 legislative election, replacing a number of single-member constituencies used until 1995. These were Kowloon East and Kowloon South-east (previously the two-member Kowloon East), Kowloon North-east, Kowloon Central and parts of Kowloon South (previously the two-member Kowloon Central). From 1985 to 1991 the seats were elected by electoral colleges composed of the members of the district boards and Urban Council.
