Przemysław Stańczyk (pl:Przemysław Stańczyk) of Poland takes over as reigning world champion. The other affected Melbourne result is 400 m freestyle. - Buffalo Bills tight end Kevin Everett is recovering after emergency surgery to stabilize the neck injury he sustained in the Bills' Week 1 loss to the Denver Broncos. Doctors stated that his spinal cord, injured between the third and fourth cervical vertebrae, was not severed, but that his chance of a full recovery are slim. Everett was conscious and alert following his injury up until entering surgery, and is aware of his situation. They will know more about his long-term prognosis in another 2–3 days.[3]
